About Nathon (Koh Samui)
Nathon lies on the west coast of Ko Samui and is the island's main ferry port, with boats to the mainland and to Ko Tao. It is also Samui's administrative centre. Unlike the busy beaches on the east side, Nathon is a quiet town with an old shopping street, small shops and restaurants along the water. The place is known for its sunsets. On Saturday evenings there is a walking street where vendors offer local dishes and products. Nathon is not a beach destination, but a good place to eat, stroll and feel the local atmosphere. It is mostly handy when arriving or leaving by ferry. Check the rain patterns: on Samui most rain falls from October to December. Around the pier you also find banks, pharmacies and small shops, which makes Nathon a practical place for everyday errands on the island.
